Hewlett-Packard Co., Google Inc.'s YouTube and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation launched a competition Monday seeking new creative video to be presented at Guggenheim museums in New York, Berlin, Bilbao and Venice in the fall.
Dubbed YouTube Play, the competition is accepting new works until July 31, after which a jury of experts will select the 20 best entries for the fall exhibition and showing on youtube.com/play.
"The Guggenheim, YouTube, and HP share a view that creative online video is one of the most compelling and innovative opportunities for personal expression today," said Richard Armstrong, director of the Guggenheim Foundation and Museum, in a statement.
The groups are making HP tutorials available on the YouTube Play channel that show editing, sound, and other video-making techniques.
"HP is moved by the imagination of digital artists, and we want to encourage the creation, sharing and appreciation of online video as an art form," said Tracey Trachta, director of marketing communications initiatives at Palo Alto-based HP's personal systems group.
Palo Alto-based HP (NYSE: HPQ) has 3,500 employees in Roseville and has offices in Rancho Cordova.
